Core Alumni Narrative — “Your Belmont Story Goes With You”
Purpose
Anchor portal language in a human narrative: alumni transition, disconnection without shame, and belonging rebuilt through community.
When to use
- onboarding “why it matters”
- Almost Alumni and Young Alumni framing
- community invitations
- language explaining “belonging” as the goal
Narrative arc (canonical summary)
- At Belmont, students experience belonging through relationships, mentors, and a shared story.
- Graduation is a meaningful transition, but it can bring disruption: new cities, careers, and responsibilities.
- In that vulnerable chapter, it’s easy to assume you’re alone in rebuilding support.
- You’re not alone. Belmont’s alumni community can be part of the support and the next step.
- The portal exists to make connection easier and belonging more accessible.
Guardrails
- Do not shame alumni for drifting.
- Do not imply the portal “solves” life transition.
- Do offer clear options for taking a next step.
Portal implications
- The portal should normalize re-entry: “You still belong.”
- Give easy starting places for reconnection:
- update profile
- join a community
- attend something
- make one introduction
- share one story
- Build pathways that honor different seasons and readiness levels.
