Champion Portal Source Documents
Why these exist
These documents are the canonical “why / voice / philosophy” for the Alumni Lookup + Champion Portal. They exist so that product decisions, onboarding flows, role resources, and Giving Advocate content consistently reflect Belmont’s underlying convictions — without reinventing language or drifting into generic, invented, or overly “marketing” copy.
If you are writing:
- onboarding or role pages
- UX microcopy and CTAs
- specs for portal features
- stewardship and Giving Advocate language
- community messaging prompts
Start here first.
How to use these sources
- Treat these docs as the source of truth for tone, posture, and philosophical alignment.
- Prefer quoting/paraphrasing from these docs over inventing new language.
- If you need something not covered, add it here as a new source doc (do not bury philosophy inside a feature spec).
Anti-patterns (avoid)
- Guilt-driven giving language (“we need you to…”).
- Treating alumni like prospects/targets.
- “Funnel / conversion” framing in user-facing copy.
- Vague inspiration without clear next steps.
- Claims that imply outcomes you can’t prove (“this will change your life”).
- Christ-centered language that is not grounded in the Identity Statement.

Archive note: Channel-specific playbooks (newsletter, LinkedIn, texting ops, routing FAQs) are intentionally not treated as canonical portal sources.
